Fixed or variable speed pumps?

Choosing between fixed and variable speed pumps can be tricky. There are a few factors to consider which often cause reason for debate.

With the correct design and water pump set up, both these options are viable. Fixed speed pumps are cheaper due to not requiring an inverter drive and excess electronics to alter the speed of the pump depending on demand. Variable speed pumps do cost more to buy and install but draw much less current than a fixed speed pump.

You can set a variable speed water pump to run at a chosen pressure within the pumps performance. Variable speed drives are an excellent way of saving money due to only running the water pumps to the point of requirement only. By not running the water pumps at 100% all the time the energy saving can be great helping you save money whilst being energy efficient.
